Portraits

This is a series of work in which i have photographed different people from diffrent areas of lahore.Im distinguishing each of them by the way they are dressed. The portraits are of the clothes they wear, which talk about identity, gender, age, class without the visibility of the face which is usually an integral part of a portrait. In this series the clothes act as identifying objects of induviduals.I am using the technique of embroidery on fabric .It is a technique which is very female oriented in its nature.I wanted to celebrate those clothes, rather than the face which is usually celebrated... the given techinique allows me to give it life and show the intricacy ,detail the amount of time to show the level at which clothes respond to us visually even in our everyday lives..

The Bride....

This video is a stop motion animation, it also deals with my previous work de-construction.Im using one of my earlier works for this. The idea of treating art as "precious" is what im trying to re-invent. It is the cycle of de-construction that again gives birth to construction of something new.Im using clothes as metaphors in my work....
The bride ... deals specifically with a gender unlike in de-construction ... the female. The feeling of abandonment... something being present yet also being absent. it is about how the visual is changing and playing with the viewers emotions... the structure initially has a presence of its own volume, and mass.. n slowly when it starts to cripple down and unravel infront of our eyes, its unexpected , abrupt and tehers a deliberate attempt of de-construction.teh body is deformed , the skeleton remains.
As for the display im wanting to project the video in a big heavy gold classical frame like from the classical period in which paintings were framed...It will project the still of the Dress so it looks like a painting from a distance and then the video will start playing after a while.
