previous work ( last semester)

These pieces are works i did with the idea of using a form/a body which had an exaggerated volume .Iused them as metaphors to life and death. when placed in an empty room would suggest huge static structures of mass and volume, life size creating a sense of absense and a feelling of something being there(present) and yet being absent at the same time.It was an installation you could go around, they had a presence of their own which left one with a feeling of abandonment .Its also about feminity as they celebrate the female body.the fabrics which were lace, net, organza suggest fragility and feminity again attached to the female.
I also photographed them in a studio with andwithout amodel to capture the impact of the form , how it makes theviewer draw their own intrepretations of it in way thts suggestive of my idea of death and life.

The secound piece is the corset which ive constructed out of used and worn military boots.by ripping them and re sewing them in a way that the form the structure of a female bodice.the idea being that there are certain conotations attached to things we see around us and how we are programmed to see them in a certain way. like a millitary boot is reffered to as a sign of masculinity, power, riginess, aggression and how im deliberately wanting to change it and make it into something very feminish... which is only attached to females. im interested in how the meaning and the form changes and how it is playing with our perception.

The third piece which is a collage that ive made using a millitary camoufalge shirt by ripping it into seperate pieces where they almost loose their identity of being parts to a shirt and bringing them down to just a composition of patterns and print as general people duno how a sleeve might look like onece opened flat unless its a tailor or a seamstress.....the meaning again changes of how we read a millitary shirt ...and how it ends up just being a juxatapostion of patterns and print and form for visual pleasure...removing it from its actual pre-conceieved identity.

The last two works are about contradiction , a deliberate attempt of wanting to see certain things in a different context other than their pre-conceived ideas in our minds.
